ITA 109 

The collaboration between Officina Profumo – Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella and Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica ITA 109 Sailing Team of Borgo San Lorenzo evolved from the passion of Eugenio Alphandery for the sea and sailing.

The boat is a Flying Dutchman, a one-design with round-bilged hull and mobile centreboard, 6.05 m long and 1.70 m wide, which is destined to become the most innovative boat of world sports sailing.

The crew is made up of two very experienced yachtsmen:  Spartaco Francesconi, steersman and Rinaldo Rinaldi, bowman.  The two Italian yachtsmen and the boat, which dresses the colours of the centuries-old Florentine firm, have competed in many prestigious regattas, and always finish on the podium.

The success the Officina Profumo – Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella Sailing Team has obtained in the past seasons is also attributed to a scrupulous activity of fine-tuning the boat, which tested valid innovative materials for the sails and on-board equipment.

The 2015 season will see the crew engaged in the traditional sailing circuit of Italy, as well as in the European championship to be held in Croatia in September.
